PCH Lime Lab is looking for seasoned mechanical engineers with several years experience in product development. Qualified candidates will be capable of designing reliable mechanical solutions to complex engineering challenges, be able to inspire and lead a small team of mechanical engineers, and work alongside designers across a broad range of disciplines and experience levels.

Day to day, you will be interfacing with PCH Lime Lab mechanical and electrical engineers and program managers, client leads and their own internal engineering teams, as well as outside industrial design partners. Along the way, you will architect complete design solutions, create and refine individual component designs, and create engineering analyses to ensure your work is based on sound engineering principles. At PCH Lime Lab, we prototype early and often to de-risk product features, so expect to be in our well-equipped shop often!

For our Senior Mechanical Design Engineer position, we are looking for a personable, communicative, and highly organized individual with at least 7 years of experience designing and developing consumer electronics products.


Relevant knowledge and skills include:


  • Motors, gears, drivetrains, and position control strategies
  • Sensor design and integration
  • LCD and capacitive touch panels
  • PCB and FPC design and integration strategies
  • LEDs, light pipes, and illumination effects
  • Cameras and optics integration
  • Seals (hydraulic, pneumatic, dust ingress, water ingress)
  • Pumps and pressure/flow control systems


  • Plastic injection molding to achieve pristine cosmetic surfaces
  • Elastomer processing
  • Die-Casting
  • Metal stampings and deep draw parts
  • CNC machining
  • Soft goods materials processing
  • Finishing techniques (paint, plating, anodizing, texturing)
  • Design for final assembly to optimize for cost and yield


  • Experience creating and working with complex surfaces in SolidWorks
  • Experience creating master models to drive parametric models
  • Design for cyclical loading, impact loads, high loads, and wear resistance
  • Managing friction in mechanisms
  • Thermal analysis and thermal management strategies
  • Free body diagrams and strength-of-materials calculations
  • Experience using FEA (dynamic, thermal, fluids) as an iterative tool
  • Tolerance analyses to ensure performance and optimize assembly fits
  • Presenting technical information succinctly to drive decision making
