About the role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you are responsible for leading electrical engineering product development from concept through test to mass production of a high volume consumer product. Our ideal candidate has a well-rounded background in all aspects of electrical design including an in-depth knowledge of systems architecture, low-level software (device drivers, firmware, and diagnostics), board layout and design, power management, and RF design.

Key Qualifications:

  • 6 - 10 years of professional experience
  • In-depth knowledge of all aspects of electrical design, including analog/digital circuit design, schematic capture (OrCAD preferred), and hands-on hardware/firmware debug
  • Experience working with PCB layout designers (Mentor PADS PCB tools preferred)
  • Power system design for low-power, battery-operated, wireless portable devices
  • Circuit design experience with emphasis on mixed signal and embedded system design, including ARM-based controllers, power management, firmware/device drivers, electrical signal characterization,  and interfacing environmental sensors
  • Experience with brainstorming and quick prototyping of potential solutions
  • Practical hands-on lab experience with board bring-up, debug, and validation is a must
  • Work with the software team to bring up drivers and applications on new hardware
  • Ability to convey knowledge and explain concepts to non-electrical engineers
  • Must be an effective communicator and have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to interact well and lead offshore engineering development in Asia
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in a laboratory environment
  • BSEE with 5+ years of product development experience in high volume consumer products
  • This position will require international travel to support engineering builds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in a hands-on Technical Lead role and a System Level track record of shipping
  • 3+ years of experience performing bring-up, debug, validation, and optimization of systems
  • RF design experience (802.11 WLAN, Bluetooth, RFID, GPS)
  • Able to write low-level test utilities using JTAG or other debug interfaces
  • CE experience with quick turn and high volume manufacturing (DFT, DFM)
  • Scripting experience (i.e., shell, Perl, Python, etc.)
  • C/C++ programming experience
  • Experience with video camera, audio, and optical design
  • Proficient with proposal writing and statement of work project estimating
  • MS degree
